How a Mini-Split Works
There's a small outdoor unit and a slim indoor unit mounted high on the wall. A refrigerant line connects them through a hole about 3 inches across. Each indoor unit has its own remote, so that room gets exactly the temperature you set. It's a heat pump, so it heats in winter too.

Single-Zone or Multi-Zone

Yes. They're heat pumps, so the same unit cools in July and heats in January.
Is a mini-split worth it?
For one space your central AC can't keep comfortable, like a garage, a sunroom or an addition, it usually is. A Mitsubishi mini-split cools and heats that room without new ductwork, and you only run it when someone's in there. For a whole house with good ducts already in place, a central system is usually the better buy. The estimate is free either way.
